12-year-old Donkii loves music, dancing, and pounding millet to help feed her family.
But this year, the rains were not good in Niger making the harvest only a tenth of what families need to survive. A poor harvest and the global food crisis are forcing children like Donkii to go hungry every day, affecting her health and future.
Funds raised from this year’s 40 Hour Famine will help children in Niger and Mali like Donkii have food year round. Her future isn’t decided. We can do something.
I’m going to be going 40 hours without food to help people like Donkii. Donate here: http://famine.org.nz/silalivirya if you want! Please want to!

This year, I will go through 40 hours without food and technology, while living in cardboard boxes in Horowhenua College’s school hall. The money raised wil go towards the people of Mali and Niger who struggle for food on a daily basis. I’m hoping for more money raised personally this year as I am one of the leaders who are organising the famine in school, and we have set a pretty high goal.
